The Wuzhen Expressway is 48.69km long, connecting Shaanxi and Chongqing. The whole line passes through the Daba Mountains, with a bridge tunnel ratio of 90.6%. As a key control node project of the whole line, Dongxi River Bridge is 506 meters long. The main bridge is designed as a deck type concrete filled steel tube arch bridge with a span of 330 meters. The vertical height of the bridge deck from the ground is 289 meters. Du Liming, chief engineer of Wuzhen Expressway Project of China Railway 12th Bureau Group Co., Ltd., said that its height has created the highest bridge of the same type in Southwest China and is also the highest arch bridge in Southwest China at present.
According to the introduction of Chongqing Wuzhen Expressway Co., Ltd., the owner, the V-shaped valley of Yinqing Mountain crossed by Dongxi River Bridge is more than 600 meters deep, with nearly vertical steep slopes and cliffs on both sides. The bridge adopts the construction technology of cable hoisting without support, and is installed through the "symmetrical suspension assembly and cable-stayed buckle hanging method of mid span closure".
During the construction, the construction personnel opened a construction access road through rock climbing ropes, erected a temporary working crane at a height of 500 meters, and lifted the materials and equipment required for the main cable anchor block. The maximum lifting height of the cable crane installed on site exceeded 440 meters, and the accumulated steel structure materials erected exceeded 7500 tons.
